Hi friends,
It’s been a month since the Wisdom Council and Book Launch… and I’ve still not written to tell you all how it went….
I will, soon, I promise! I’ve been recovering and re-living!
My dear friend Sandra carefully recorded all of the topics from the Wisdom Council and i look forward to writing up a piece about it all. It was utterly magical. I am also trying to upload my radio interview about the book and the launch.
There was a strong feeling on the day that there would be seeds blowing out it all directions from the wisdom Council. I look forward to seeing what grows.

Wisdom for Our Time and Book Launch

Dear friends.
There are only 5 days to go….
Women from all over Ireland are busy planning their trip to Cork city.
The last months have been such a rich time of preparation, of pulling together, of giving and recieving support and of stepping up. For me, most of the work is done now and the emotions are beginning to surface… joy and excitement, fear, nervousness, gratitude.
In January Markus (my hubby) and I decided to make the book launch into a day to remember. And it is shaping up to be just that. For me and Markus, as well as the women who have helped to bring this event to reality… Caitriona, Sandra, Karina, Deirdre, Margaret O’S…. and for those who come join us on the day…. I’m sure that this event will be both a treasured memory and a point of reference for our future lives.
I hope you see many of you at 2pm on the 2nd October(don’t forget to contact us for tickets prior to the event) for a joyous celebration of Wisdom, and in particular women’s wisdom.

Calling all BOOK CLUBS…

Calling all BOOK CLUBS…
I have 10 somewhat damaged books. Courier dropped a box! Spines are a bit squashed but otherwise they are perfect. I’d love to package them up for a woman’s book club in Ireland….. On Loan copies… Just send me your details… I would need someone to take responsibility for the books and to commit to packaging them up and sending them on to the next group when finished. Postage seems to be cheap enough for bulk postage… approx €15. I’d say that 6 weeks should be enough time per book club group…. but i’m open to suggestions on that one.
Any book reviews or comments sent to our site or book review sites/ websites would be gratefully accepted as a payment in kind.

Celebration of Wisdom in Cork 2nd Oct 2010

We are forging ahead with our plans for the launch…
We really want to celebrate Wisdom in our culture so we have decided to have a celebration of wisdom as well as a book launch. Firstly we have some workshops planned- given by the wise women from the book. Then we’ll gather for a wisdom council. Wisdom Councils are still common in the Native American traditions and they are what we imagine happened in Ireland before modern politics began. We will have an inner circle of invited wise women(do send on any suggestions) and the rest of us will sit in circles around them, listening. There may be space twords the end for comments from the floor. The difference between this gathering and other meetings is that the women will be asked to speak from the heart. We thought that the topic might be something like… What is important to pass on to our children…. (again any comments and suggestions are welcome). Men are also very much welcome to be part of these events. The day will end with a launch and party celebrating the book.
Date – Saturday 2nd Oct 2010…..
Venue – yet to be finalised- we are down to two final posibilities now…. both in Cork City

Of Constant Heart has been pre-Launched!!!!

Hello hello,
I finally did it!!!
I finally got my book, Of Constant Heart: Conversations with Wise Women, in Ireland into print!!!!
At the Wise Women Weekend in Co Leitrim I had the Pre-Launch of my book. This is such a gorgeous yearly event organised by a wonderful team of women under the leadership of Pauline Howard. Check out their website… www.wisewomanireland.com
Judith Hoad who was the third Wise Woman I interviewed for the book is one of the initiators of the weekend so it was very exciting to bring the book into the light in her presence.
The excitement was palpable at the pre-launch. There was even a queue at the sales table!!!!
My dear friend Sandra was the most wonderful support in helping me, for the first time, to bring my book into the world, a magnificent ‘midwife’ …..
And from Cork, throughout the weekend I recieved texts from family and friends who were reading the book at that moment… telling me of their tears and laughter…
It was such an honour for me to be able to stand in front of a room full of people and invite them to read the book: to read the stories and the teachings of six wise and generous women.
Now we are working towards a Wisdom council and booklaunch in September. This event will hopefully have all of the wise women from the book together to celebrate and to offer workshops. If you have energy or ideas please let us know…
If you have read or are reading the book please write a comment or inspiration here….. lets get some sharing and some dialogue going…. lets keep the conversations going….. As part of our( Markus and I) dream for the website we hope to upload short films of the wise women… and a creative space for who knows what else…

Pre-launch of my book

I am in the final stages of self-publishing my book:
“Of Constant Heart – Conversations With Wise Women In Ireland”.
There will be a Pre-launch on the 29th of May at the Wise Women’s Conference.
Book-launch
Feb 25th
We have started to organize the official book launch. We are hoping to have it in the Blackrock Castle Observatory in Cork possibly on the 25th of September 2010.
We are looking for contacts of volunteers and sponsors to support this day event with workshops and wisdom council.
