Workshop: “Defining Life’s Landmarks”

Modern western society has defined people by age, for example, “teenager”, “parents”, “senior citizen”, but has made no effort to help initiate us as we progress from one stage to another.   Sometimes called “Rites of Passage”, traditional societies honour and celebrate the transition from child to adult that is puberty.   Parenthood is another occasion for celebration and so is menopause, or retirement.   Judith will explore with participants what these life-changing stages mean to us and in what ways we might create ceremony to celebrate each one.
